Where to buy, and what it costs you

The five places this site checks, what each one is actually good at, and what it costs you. The live rate sits beside every one.

Bybit

P2P · person to person
Buy₦1,450.00
Sell₦1,389.00

The deepest peer to peer board of the five, with the most merchants, so a large amount usually fills without splitting it across several trades.

The board moves quickly. A price you saw a minute ago may well be gone by the time you have the app open.

Open Bybit

OKX

P2P · person to person
Buy₦1,393.99
Sell₦1,393.20

Consistently tight prices on a clean board, normally within a few naira of the best on the market at any hour.

Fewer merchants than Bybit at the very top and bottom of the range, so the very best offer is often small.

Open OKX

Bitget

P2P · person to person
Buy₦1,392.80
Sell₦1,388.60

Frequently carries the single best offer of the day, particularly on the selling side.

A thinner board overall, so that best price sometimes comes with a limit too small to be useful.

Quidax

Instant · one click
Buy₦1,395.35
Sell₦1,393.50

Nigerian, instant, and there is no merchant to deal with at all. Press once and it is finished.

An instant price is always worse than the best peer to peer offer. The convenience is what you are paying for.

Luno

Instant · one click
Buy₦1,392.95
Sell₦1,392.43

Long established and genuinely simple, which makes it a reasonable place to buy USDT for the first time.

Usually the least competitive rate here. Fine for a small amount, expensive for a large one.

Peer to peer or instant

On a peer to peer board you are dealing with another person. The exchange holds the coin while the naira moves and releases it once both sides confirm. The price is better because nobody is taking a spread in the middle, and it costs you a few extra minutes and some care about who you trade with.

An instant exchange sets one price and fills it immediately. There is nobody to talk to and nothing to confirm. You pay for that in the rate, and on the board above the difference is usually plain to see.

Before a large trade

Check the merchant's completed order count and the limits on the offer. An excellent rate attached to a small maximum is not an excellent rate for a large amount, and splitting one large trade across three merchants often ends up worse than simply taking the second best price in one go.
